Spike Lavery is the son of Ryan Lavery and Kendall Hart. He was born on May 31, 2006. He three siblings, two half-sisters Emma Lavery and the late Sara Lavery, through Ryan and a half-brother Ian Slater through Kendall. Spike was orginally suppose to be the child of Ryan and his wife Greenlee Smythe. Greenlee had previously been pregnant with Ryan's child but lost it and learned that she couldn't carry another child. Kendall offered to be a surrogate and carry their child. Ryan was presumed dead at the time but had some samples at the fertility clinic. However, just days before Kendall was going to them embro inplant there was a power outage in the town. Kendall headed to the clinic and learned that Greenlee's egg had unfrozen and were usable and that Ryan's sperm would become unusable in a matter of hours. As everyone believed that Ryan was dead she saw it as Greenlee's last change to have Ryan's child so she had Dr. Gregory "Greg" Madden artificial inseminate her with Ryan's sperm. Kendall lied to everyone including Greenlee that the child of Greenlee and Ryan's child. Kendall soon learned that she was pregnant and Ryan returned to town and it revealed that Ryan faked her death. A few months later, at Thanksgiving Greenlee learns the truth about who the biological mother is of the child and reveals all to everyone. Greenlee in anger leaves town and Ryan.
